Canada's Top Quality Mushroom Grow Supply & Mycology Services
🟢 We encourage everyone to learn about mushrooms & their potential health benefits. In turn, we are helping provide a better tomorrow for individuals, through cultivation teachings & simplifying the science for everyone to enjoy!
Are You with Us?
🟢 Learning to Grow Mushrooms:
This can be a Challenge. Get the jump on mushroom research and become successful without the obvious pitfalls that come from inexperience. Purchasing Spawn, Substrate or utilizing a pre-determined Grow Kit, provides you with the experience & understanding of the mushroom life cycle as you develop a new found skillset & interest that will carry you into a fulfilling future of cultivating mushrooms.
🟢 New to Mushroom Cultivation?
You may consider starting with a mushroom grow kit. Our grow kits not only beat competitor pricing & deliver maximum yields, but can be refilled & reused repeatedly, providing you with an abundance of mushrooms for you to enjoy as your skill improves!
🟢 What is a Grow Kit exactly?
Our mushroom grow kits replicate the thermodynamic processes of larger scale grow containers used by mainstream mushroom cultivators. They teach you how-to observe conditions, and navigate through procedures which will prepare you for the next steps in your journey to mastering the skill of home cultivation.
🟢 Our You Fungi Grow Kits:
Contain living mushroom mycelium that is ready to plant in our proprietary substrate (the material underlying mushroom growth) making it simple and effective in producing your own mushrooms with little or no previous skill involved.
🚫 Don't get caught using those questionable high priced grow kits-- it will leave you with bad habits, and little experience as you enter your mushroom cultivation journey.
Fungi play a fundamental role in nature as decomposers of organic matter, regulators of vital processes, enhancers of genetic improvement & supporters of plant root activity.
These functions, inherent to the Fungi Kingdom, make their use in the management of certain environmental problems extremely interesting.
Environmental mycology focuses on investigating the potential applications of fungi in the environment. Since fungi are decomposers, their degradative enzymes can have multiple impacts, such as the clean-up of the biosphere. Additionally, some fungi species can be used in the degradation & biotransformation of pollutants that are present in both aquatic & terrestrial ecosystems. Finally, fungi are applied in the field of biotechnology for bioenergetic purposes & can also be used as models to investigate ecology, evolution & genetics.
Fungi are cosmopolitan organisms that can develop in the most varied substrates, in various climates, & even in extreme conditions. Some species contribute to the recycling of nutrients & the decomposition of organic matter, while others participate in the deterioration of infrastructures and archaeological collections, producing toxins & volatile substances that sometimes cause respiratory and systemic diseases & allergies.
Fungal development is subject to certain environmental conditions such as relative humidity, temperature, precipitation, thermal inversion, contamination, substrate availability & human activities. These all have a decisive influence on the proliferation and spread of fungal particles. In interior spaces, items such as food, plants, flowers, dust, textiles, curtains, carpets, furniture in poor condition (especially wood) --all promote biological air pollution.
It is estimated that 80% of vascular plants are associated with fungi (likely much higher). Without fungi, they would not withstand certain inclement weather (e.g. drought), a lack of soil nutrients, or they would be more sensitive to attack by bacteria or insects. Work carried out in the Sierra Nevada confirmed that almost all plant genera (except cruciferous & legumes) are associated with fungi, which help them withstand huge differences in temperature & drought.
There are fungi associated with insects that help them obtain higher quality food. This is the case with Termitomyces, which helps sub-Saharan termites feed on the sugars they metabolize when they devour plant debris provided by insects. But some fungi parasitize insects & help us reduce certain pests. One of the groups of fungi specialized in living parasitically on insects belongs to the genus Cordyceps.
Research is generally directed at trying to domesticate more species of fungi, such as the boils or chanterelles & thus minimize the impact the demand for wild mushrooms has. In the case of mushrooms, their cultivation is associated with the revaluation of waste materials from agriculture --if this is done correctly, it can be considered a sustainable & environmentally friendly crop.
Fungi require carbon, nitrogen & other elements to balance their nutrition & grow healthy mushrooms for reproduction.
Carbon is used for the synthesis of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids & nucleic acids. Their oxidization provides the energy required by the fungi. In addition, they secrete extracellular enzymes such as amylase, protease & lipase that degrade macromolecules.
Nitrogen is require for the synthesis of cellular constituents, such as amino acids, proteins, purines, pyrimidines, nucleic acids, glucosamine and chitin.
Almost all fungi are aerobic, but some yeasts and filamentous fungi are facultative. None are strictly anaerobic- they can tolerate PH variations between 2 and 10, but their optimal growth is 6.5 - 7.
They prefer a humid environment; however, the conidia or spores can survive in a dry atmosphere. Many fungi have an optimal growing temperature of between 25 & 37C, although some grow at particularly low temperatures & others up to 45C.
Fungi obtain nutrients via absorption & have a chemoheterotrophic metabolism since energy & carbon come from organic compounds synthesized by other organisms. This fact conditions their way of life because in nature, they are associated with decomposing organic matter, participating in natural cycles of recycling carbon & other natural elements or as opportunistic pathogens of animals & plants.
They can degrade a large number of components for which they have powerful exoenzymes that, in some cases, can serve as virulence factors in the host. Some of the fungi pathogenic to humans multiply in soil that is enriched with organic matter & nitrogenous compounds from animal excrement.
